HAMPTON – A Chesapeake man was found dead in a car in Hampton early Friday.
37-year-old Roderick Deon Rush was in a 2009 Hyundai Accent parked in the 2200 block of West Pembroke Avenue just after midnight.
Investigators believe there was an exchange of gunfire between people in two vehicles and Rush was killed.
About that same time, police learned that two men who'd been shot were being treated at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News. Authorities believe they are connected to incident in which Rush was killed.
Police say they have no information about the second vehicle involved in that shooting.
At 12:21 a.m., a man was in Sentara Careplex being treated for a head injury. It wasn't clear whether the incident was connected to the shooting.
At 2:57 a.m., Police received a 911 call about shots fired on North King Street, and arrived to find 21-year-old Jaquan Marquise Brown suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body across from King Street Commons apartments.
Brown was pronounced dead at the scene by members of the Hampton Fire and Rescue Division.
Police said that their preliminary investigation revealed that Brown was involved in an attempted robbery of an adult female who was walking in the 900 block of North King Street. Immediately following the attempt, Brown was shot by an unknown suspect, according to police.
These shootings and their motives are still under investigation.
One resident told 13News Now shots had been fired in the same area on Thursday.
