WILLIAMSBURG - Police say a man set off a bottle bomb in Williamsburg.

Investigators say 26-year-old Casey Shanholtz of James City County made the device that went off around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday

No one in the area of the 400 block of Merrimac Trial was injured, but people reported hearing an explosion and seeing smoke.

Shanholtz is charged with manufacture and possession of an explosive device.

Investigators told WVEC.com they believe he wasn't targeting anyone, that it went off while he was visiting at a friend's house.
