VIRGINIA BEACH --  A Chesapeake man is accused of raping a child and Va. Beach Police say they there could be other victims.

22-year-old Tyree Ernest Jefferson was arrested February 7 and charged with Forcible Sodomy, Rape, Taking Indecent Liberties with a Child, Object Sexual Penetration and Aggravated Sexual Battery.

The victim, who police say is a girl under the age of 13, said the assaults occurred between December 2013 and January 2014, according to a news release from Va. Beach Police.

The crimes took place near Wyckoff Dr., police told 13News Now.

The Special Victims Unit investigation determined Jefferson and the youngster first met online and then began meeting in person.

Investigators want to hear from anyone who may have had any involvement with Jefferson.  Call the Virginia Beach Detective Bureau at (757) 385-4101.

Jefferson is in the Va. Beach City Jail and has a preliminary hearing set for May 1, Commonwealth's Attorney spokeswoman Macie Pridgen told WVEC.com.
