VIRGINIA BEACH -- Congratulations to 13News Now anchor and reporter Joe Flanagan who has been recognized for his distinguished career in broadcast news.
He was honored Friday by the Virginia Association of Broadcasters with the George A. Bowles Jr. Award.
The award is presented every year to a broadcast news journalist who has longevity in Virginia broadcasting and shows exemplary enthusiasm for his or her work and community.
Flanagan is perhaps most well-known for Joe's Jobs, a weekly segment in which he takes a crack at unique jobs throughout Hampton Roads.
“Everyone on our team was thrilled to see Joe receive this well deserved recognition,” said Brad Ramsey, president and general manager at WVEC ABC13. “Joe is a great journalist and an even better person. It was a treat to see him accept the award Friday night with the same intelligence, humor and grace that he has shown on our air every day for 29 years.”
