HAMPTON - The City of Hampton and Langley Air Force Base are practicing their response to a jet crash on Thursday.

The exercise began at 10:00 a.m. at Gosnold Hope Park on E. Little Back River Road. Firefighters and emergency personnel will test their response to the "crash" of an F-22 Raptor.

People who live hear the park could see fire and smoke and hear sirens during the exercise. Entrances to the park from Shelby and Gibson avenue will be blocked and parts of the 105-acre park will be closed until mid-afternoon. However, the boat ramp at the back of the park off Shelby Avenue can be reached by using the Marshall Avenue entrance.

NAS Oceana last week had its emergency exercise with the City of Va. Beach last week staging a hazmat situation.
