Hundreds gather to remember children killed in mobile home fire

HAMPTON -- A sad farewell Tuesday for three children killed in a fire last week.

Hundreds of people packed St. Joseph's Catholic Church to remember 3-year old Victor Tristan, Marilyn Tristan, 2, and 9-month old Jose Tristan.

They were asleep in their Buckroe mobile home when fire started.  They didn't survive, but their parents and 8-year-old sister got out safely.

Fire investigators said that a malfunctioning space heater caused the fire.

The Ladies Auxiliary of Buckroe has established a trust for the Tristan family at Wachovia Bank. Donations also can be given to the Buckroe Fire Station at 2412 E. Pembroke Avenue, Hampton, VA 23669.
