NEWPORT NEWS-Lee Boone says a heroin overdose nearly killed him. He injected a pure form of heroin.
Had it not been for the friend he was with, who is a nurse, he says wouldn't be here. She gave him CPR.
"I was pale in the face. My lips were turning blue," he described.
Two years later, Boone is in rehab in Newport News still battling his addiction.
He's one example why law enforcement says pure heroin use is on the rise in Hampton Roads and more people are dying.
In a 13News Now investigation at 6 p.m., find out why heroin use is growing and which city has seen the most overdose deaths.
