HAMPTON -- A teenager has been arrested in connection with a stabbing on Shell Road.
Corporal Mary Shackelford with Hampton Police advised that at 10:23 p.m. on Saturday, police dispatch got a call about a stabbing in the 2200 block of Shell Road.
Officers that responded to the scene were able to locate a 36-year-old man with stab wounds to his upper body. He was discovered inside the stairwell of a residence. The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries considered to be life-threatening.
Police were able to determine that a suspect was inside the residence and additional assistance from the Hampton SWAT Team was requested.
The suspect was taken into custody, but police have not released his identity because he is 17-years-old.
The teen has been charged with one count of maiming and one count of use of a knife in commission of a felony.
Details surrounding a potential motive have not been released.
The victim and suspect knew each other, but police are not providing information about the relationship.
