HAMPTON -- A Hampton police car collided with an SUV Thursday morning.

Sgt. Jason Price says the marked police car was turning left onto North Armistead Avenue from the Hampton City Public Works parking lot when it crashed into a 2008 Dodge Journey.

That SUV rolled over during the crash but landed upright, he stated.

The officer wasn't hurt, but the woman driving the SUV was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash, which happened around 8:35 a.m., closed southbound closed on N. Armistead Ave. between Rip Rap Road and W. Pembroke for about an hour.

The crash remains under investigation.
