HAMPTON -- A Hampton firefighter faces several charges, including stalking, burglary and larceny of a woman with whom he'd had a relationship.

Police charged 53-year-old David Allen Peters with stalking, use of profane language, threatening or indecent language over public airways, harassment by a computer, computer trespass, computer invasion, using a computer to gather identifying information, vandalism, burglary and larceny.

Police say between July 2013 and March 2014, Peters vandalized and entered her home to commit larceny. They say he also used a computer and made phone calls to harass and stalk her and her extended family.

Jan Dail lives across the street from Peters. She says she knows the alleged victim and had seen the two together before.

"I just saw contact as far as he would get up in the morning and he would bring her coffee. That was a long time ago," Dail said.

Peters is in the Hampton City Jail.

According to a police press release, Peters, who lives in the 1st block of Stedlyn Circle, has worked for the Fire Division since 2001.  He is on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation, fire officials told WVEC.com.
