HAMPTON -- Hampton High School students and staff have raised $10,000 for the Red Cross Haitian relief effort.

It's double what they'd hoped to make when they started the "5 in 5" goal -- hoping to raise $5,000 in five days.

After reaching that level, the fundraiser effort kept on.

Tuesday afternoon, the $10,000 check was presented to the Red Cross in a special assembly at Hampton High.

The latest reports from Haiti indicate the earthquake killed 230,000 people.
