HAMPTON -- The 40-member choir from Hampton University will perform at Saturday's inauguration of Bob McDonnell as Virginia's governor.

"I think it's an honor, so I'm happy to be a part of it," said freshman Percy Lamar.

The choir got word just before the new year and has been practicing ever since.

Choir director Royzell Dillard says guests will hear music with a H-U flavor.

"One of the things that we do at Hampton is a great deal of spirituals, so we'll be doing several spiritual arrangements," Dillard stated.

The choir will perform in 20-minute sets alternating with the 29th Division Band.

The HU choir has performed for many important occasions, including the 1997 inauguration of President Bill Clinton.
