ELIZABETH CITY, N.C.-- The grandson of an elderly couple is being charged with their murders.

28-year old Christopher Aaron Wright is being charged with the murders of his grandparents Robert and Carolyn Alexander. They were 83 and 86 years old.

The octogenarian couple was reported missing by their daughter around 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.

She'd gone to their home on Johnson Rd. and found things didn't look right, authorities say.

Investigators determined the couple's 1998 Ford Ranger truck was missing.

It was found parked at another home and officers with the NC State Bureau of Investigation watched as a person got into it and drove off.  They stopped the truck off of Forest Park Road just before 1:00 p.m.

A couple of hours later, while on patrol, a sheriff's deputy found the bodies of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander in a ditch along Wades Point Rd.

The medical examiner's office is not saying how the couple was killed.

Wright is already in jail for stealing his grandfather's pickup truck. Bond for murder charges have yet to be set.
