NEWPORT NEWS-- Bystanders in a Walmart parking lot came to the rescue of a woman who was being robbed Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened around 1:00 p.m. today when a 29-year-old Newport News woman cashed a money order at the Walmart store at Harpersvile Rd. and Jefferson Ave.

The victim called for help and a construction worker as well as several other bystanders responded and apprehended the suspect, after a brief foot chase.  They held the suspect there until police arrived.

The victim sustained minor scrapes and bruises.

Police arrested Harden who remains in the Newport News City Jail on no bond.
