NORFOLK (AP) -- A jury is being chosen for a former Norfolk police detective's extortion trial.
The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk reports that prospective jurors were questioned Tuesday about whether they know defendant Robert Glenn Ford and whether they've seen or read media accounts about the case.
Ford retired in 2007. He faces four counts of extortion and one count of lying to the FBI.
Ford is accused of taking money from suspects in exchange for testifying for them or helping them secure bond or get reduced sentences. He has denied the charges.
The trial in U.S. District Court in Norfolk is expected to last up to two weeks.
