NEWPORT NEWS -- Investigators with the Newport News Fire Department are trying to figure out what caused a fire behind a house near Richneck Elementary School Wednesday night.

Emergency crews received the call in the 100 block of Tyner Drive just before 7 p.m., according to Battalion Chief Robert Craft.

When firefighters arrived on scene, heavy smoke was coming from two sheds and a deteached garage behind the home, Craft said. Fire crews managed to knock down the flames within minutes.

No one was injured during the incident. An investigation is now underway.
