House Fire Displaces Family

SUFFOLK -- Police officers turned firefighters Saturday evening, helping to knock down flames at a home in College Square.

Emergency Communications received a call about the fire in the 6000 block of Bradford Drive at 6:10 p.m. Before fire crews got there, police officers used a fire extinguisher to knock down the fire which started in the kitchen.

Crews had the fire under control at 6:22 p.m. 

The kitchen had heavy damage. Emergency workers determined the house was uninhabitable.

The American Red Cross is helping the family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children) that lives there.
