NORFOLK – Someone set fire to a cardboard box in a shower stall inside a Norfolk State University dorm.
This the same dorm that flooded in October when a water pipe burst, forcing dozens of students out of their rooms until repairs were made. Hoggard says three students went before judicial review in that case and were given counseling on decision making.
It was the latest in a series of fire alarms trigged at NSU between 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m.
Firefighters found fire in a third floor bathroom at Scott Hall.
Norfolk State police believe it was intentionally set to trigger the fire alarms. There was very little damage -- mostly smoke and scorched tiles, said NSU spokeswoman Sharon Hoggard.
Twice before that, alarms went off after they were sprayed with an aerosol can.
During each incident, students had to be evacuated.
Norfolk Fire Dept. investigators are questioning students about the incidents.
"Something was set in an occupied dwelling. It's in a school setting. It's in a dorm. It's a place where students are sleeping, we take that very seriously," said Battalion Chief Harry Worley.

The person who started the fire could be charged with arson.
The investigation continues.
