PORTSMOUTH-- A family of five escaped a fire that burned down their home Sunday morning by jumping out of windows.
The fire started around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday in the 4100 block of South St. in Portsmouth, when Angela Vaughan heard her brother screaming, telling them to get out of the house.
The family jumped out of the window to escape the fire, making it out safely.
All of their belongings, however, were destroyed.
"I dont ever want to go through that again," said Angela Vaughan.
Angela took a video of the home burning moments after her family escaped.
"I think I got out of the house within oh my God maybe 30 seconds and this whole house was in flames within two minutes," said Vaughan.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
Family friends will be holding a benefit at Otis' Raw Bar in Chesapeake on Saturday, January 5, to help the family.
