HAMPTON -- Two days late, but they're finally home.
The first F-22 Raptor squadron deployed to southwest Asia landed safely at Langley Air Force Base on Wednesday afternoon.
The 27th Fighter Squadron had been conducting simulated air-to-air combat while training in an arid environment.
The F-22A Raptor is the United States' newest fighter jet. Its first real-world deployment was in 2007 to Kadena Air Base in Japan.
The first trans-Atlantic deployment for the Raptor was in 2008, where the fighter jet participated in the 2008 Royal Inernational Air Tattoo and the Farnborough International air show.
