HAMPTON (AP) -- Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz will be on the Peninsula Friday to promote President Barack Obama's job-creation initiatives in the energy sector.
Moniz is scheduled to visit Hampton University on Friday afternoon. He'll tour Hampton's campus then meet with students in science, technology, engineering and math disciplines.
Hampton is a historically black university with a national reputation for so-called STEM education. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathmatics.
Moniz said he will highlight opportunities available in the energy sector and emphasize the value of a STEM education.
Before going to HU, Secretary Moniz will visiting the Department of Energy's Jefferson Lab.
