VIRGINIA BEACH -- Employees at a Jersey Mike's in Virginia Beach attacked a suspect who tried to rob the business Thursday, according to police.

The masked suspect allegedly entered the store in the 5700 block of Burton Station Rd. around 9 p.m., approached one of the employees and assaulted him.

According to police, the employees felt the suspect was going to rob them after attacking their coworker so they “attacked” the suspect, but he managed to escape out the back door.

The suspect did not obtain any property and one employee had minor injuries but did not require medical attention.

The suspect was last seen limping down Burton Station Rd.  He is described as a black male, late teens to early 20s and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a dark-colored bandanna.

This case remains under investigation.
