HAMPTON -- A clothes dryer caught fire and ignited a nearby propane tank, spreading flames throughout the home, Hampton fire officials said.
Crews were called to the home on Vienna Court around 6:30 a.m.
The three adults, two children and their dog got out safely.
A man who lives nearby said he heard an explosion and went to investigate. He says he found the family waiting in their car.
The dryer was in the garage.
The home is badly damaged.
The Hampton Roads chapter of the American Red Cross provided the family with vouchers for clothing.
