CHESAPEAKE -- A driver lost control of his car and hit a power pole, Chesapeake Police said.

The impact of the 3 a.m. crash on Taylor Road near Western Branch Blvd. knocked down a power pole.

Officers were expected to be directing traffic in the area for most of the morning as Dominion Virginia Power crews worked to replace the pole and get power lines back up. Taylor Road from Dunedin Drive to Peppercorn Drive will be close until approximately 11:30 a.m., police stated.

Investigators say the 24-year-old driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Authorities are investigating whether he had a medical emergency while driving. They say there was no indication that speed, or alcohol were factors in this accident.

According to the Dominion Power Web site, two customers were without power as of 6:20 a.m.
