SUFFOLK -- A driver was injured after he slammed his car into a house on Holland Road in Suffolk Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the 66-year-old driver ran off the road around 1:30 p.m. and hit a house in the 2400 block of Holland Road.

The driver was unable to open the door to his vehicle after he struck the house and was assisted by rescue personnel.

Police say there is significant structural damage to the home.  Nobody was inside at the time.

The driver was taken to the hospital for injuries that don't appear to be life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
