CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC-A North Carolina couple is charged with breaking into two Currituck County businesses and trying to get into a third.

Police say 37-year-old David Anthony Fantone and 36-year-old Elizabeth Irene Cullipher stole collectible coins, jewelry and a money jar for Animal Lovers Assistance League from the Peck Basket, 2132 Caratoke Highway, on January 18. During that investigation, Powell's Market next door had been broken into and money stolen from the "honor box."

Also that day there was an attempted break-in at Currituck Feed and Seed, located at 3121 Caratoke Highway.

The two were caught after surveillance video caught them cashing in coins at several coin star machines and authorities stopped their car in Moyock around 1 a.m. Sunday, according to a Currituck County Sheriff's Office release.

Officials also said they found several items that had been taken from the Peck Basket.
