YORKTOWN -- A couple left three young children alone while they burglarized an ABC store, York-Poquoson authorities say.

Edward Gregory and Elizabeth Pruitt took several bottles of alcohol from the Village Ave. store around 3:20 a.m. on April 14, Lt. Dennis Ivey told WVEC.com.

Deputies searched the area, located bottles of alcohol and then the couple, he added.

"It was later discovered that they had left the children, ages eight, five and three, alone in the house while they went out a committed the burglary," Ivey stated.

Gregory, 51, and Pruitt, 28, face several charges including abuse/neglect of children, wearing a mask and grand larceny.
