VIRGINIA BEACH – Some condo owners in Va. Beach say a $24,000-per-owner assessment for repairs and renovations is too much.
They live at Peppertree Condominiums, which run $80,000-$120,000.
"The reason people move here is good location, affordable price and you own your own place. Now we’re going to turn it into some place that’s way too expensive," worries resident Gavin Napolitano.
The Va. Beach Code Enforcement department cited 11 buildings in the complex for rotting wood siding and peeling paint.
The condo board has posted a list of proposed work that covers other work, including new windows and sliding doors in all condos, renovating the clubhouse and replacing siding that’s covered in mold.
The condo board president wouldn’t comment about the proposal.
