PORTSMOUTH-- The Coast Guard SAVED three people that were in distress on a sailboat on Saturday.

The people aboard the 32-foot sailboat were on the Pasquotank River near Elizabeth City, N.C. when they hit a submerged piling around 2:45 p.m. There was about 14 inches of water in the boat.

A response boat from the Coast Guard station in Elizabeth City rescued the callers in distress and took them to Lambs Marina in Camden, N.C.
