SUFFOLK -- A child was flown by Nightingale Monday afternoon after a near-drowning incident in Suffolk, authorities said.

According to spokeswoman Diana Klink, the 5-year-old was found unresponsive in a pool around 2:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of Longstreet Lane.

Dispatchers provided CPR instructions to the boy's mother and he was breathing on his own when rescue units arrived, Klink said.  He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General.

No information was immediately released about the child's condition.
