9 p.m. UPDATE: Norfolk police have charged four people in connection with Wednesday night's shooting.
Raetron Whittaker-Lee and Elston Haley Jr., 18, are both being held without bond at the Norfolk City Jail. Two juvenile males were also charged.
Police say prior to the shooting, the victim was standing in the 2400 block of Lafayette Boulevard with a friend when a 2004 Silver Buick Century occupied by the four suspects and a 3-year-old child drove by.
One of the two male juveniles inside the vehicle shot in the direction of the victim; hitting him. The vehicle then took off in an unknown direction. Police located the car a short time later and detained all the occupants inside. Authorities discovered multiple weapons inside the vehicle.
NORFOLK -- Police are trying to figure out what led to the shooting of a boy in Norfolk Wednesday night.
The incident happened in the 2500 block of Lafayette Boulevard just before 6 p.m., according to Norfolk police spokesperson Karen Parker-Chesson.
When emergency personnel arrived on scene, they found the boy suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was then transported by medics to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
The victim's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Parker-Chesson said.
Police have not released a description of the suspect.
