ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY--The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a flood warning for the Blackwater River above Franklin from Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. to Wednesday at 12:30 p.m., or until the warning is cancelled.  

At 7:45 p.m. Friday night the stage was at 10.2 feet.  The flood stage is 10.8 feet. 

According to a release from the city of Suffolk, the river is expected to rise above flood stage by late Saturday morning and continue to rise to nearly 11.7 feet by Monday evening.  

The river will fall below flood stage by Wednesday afternoon.  

At 11.8 feet, a portion of Route 611 in Southampton County, Joyners Bridge Road, will be  inundated.  A portion of Route 619 in Isle of Wight County is currently flooded. 

The river level is comparable to a previous crest of 11.7 feet which occurred on December 11, 2009.
