VIRGINIA BEACH -- Tripower Cycling Club is offering a $1000 reward for information leading the arrest and conviction of a hit-and-run driver.

Jim Dunham has several broken bones and is looking for the driver who hit him and kept going.

Dunham, an experienced bicyclist, was biking west on Shore Drive near 83rd Street around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3.

A witness told police it's likely a blue truck that was behind him knocked him to the ground. Dunham hit hard, breaking his collarbone, hip and three ribs.

From his hospital bed, Dunham said, "I saw a lady, she called 911.  I asked who hit me.  She says I don't know.  He left.  Then it was a pause in my mind.  I couldn't get my head around that.  I don't  understand why someone would leave."

His daughter Summer said she can't believe someone wouldn't stop.

"He's not a raccoon.  He's a person," she said.

The family is grateful Dunham was wearing a helmet but say it will likely take months for him to recover.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw the hit-and-run. Call Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP if you have any information.
