NORFOLK- A bicyclist hit the side of a light rail train Friday evening.
According to Police spokesperson, Chris Amos, the cyclist was uninjured during the incident which occurred at the corner of York and Botetourt streets around 6pm.
Amos said the bicyclist was trying to pedal past the idle train and scraped it's side.
It is the first reported incident of someone hitting a light rail train, Amos said.
Amos added, the biker suffered no major injuries and the train had minor damage.
Amos compared the incident to that of a car getting scraped by a shopping cart in a grocery parking lot,.
Currently the light rail trains are doing test runs downtown. The trains will start carrying passengers on August 19th.
