VIRGINIA BEACH-As the holiday season approaches, people are going shopping to get just the right gift for family and friends.
We here at ABC13 hope you can put one more person on your gift list - a child in need.
Our annual Angel Tree campaign with the Salvation Army is underway. Since 1984, Hampton Roads has shown its compassion for those less fortunate by donating new clothes for children.
Just pick up a tag that's hanging on trees at area malls and stores, buy the clothing and then return the gift and tag, unwrapped, to the tree. The Salvation Army will take care of getting it wrapped and to the child you selected.
"Every member of our team is proud of our association with the Salvation Army, and especially proud to be a part of the Angel Tree program,” said ABC13 President and General Manager Brad Ramsey. “I hope the community at large will join me in taking an Angel, or two, and giving a child in our area a reason to smile.”
The Salvation Army will distribute gifts between December 14 and 21.
“We are grateful for the longstanding partnership with WVEC and the many people in Hampton Roads who support us by taking an Angel Tree tag home. It is truly all about neighbors helping neighbors!” said Captain Brett Meredith of The Salvation Army Hampton Roads Area Command.
