ACCOMACK CO.-- Police are stepping up their presence on the Eastern Shore following a string of arsons that started in November.

On Friday night police began conducting informational gathering checkpoints at random locations around the county as part of the ongoing investigation. The increased police presence is expected to last through Tuesday.

About 64 suspicious have occurred in the county since November. The latest arson happened early Friday morning in the 28,500 block of Saxis Road in Temperanceville.  Like many of the other arsons the latest involved an abandoned, residential structure.

Troopers are handing out fliers featuring the Accomack County Arson Tip Line and reward information, as well as soliciting any information or concerns motorists may have about the fires.

Anyone with information about the arsons and/or individuals responsible are asked to contact law enforcement via a Tip Line dedicated to these investigations. Text, call or email at 757-655-1437. A reward of $25,000 is being offered.
