NORFOLK -- Downtown Norfolk wants to attract attention to empty storefronts along Granby Street, so they're doing it artistically.

In a five-block stretch on restaurant row, artists are setting up their works for a two-month show called Art Everywhere.

Inside empty stores - like the former Uncle Harry's BBQ - there will be works of art.

"I hope we get some art sold. I hope we get some people more prideful of their city. I hope ultimately we get some of these places leased and some more businesses down here and we got downtown thriving like it should be," said co-organizer Jesse Scaccia of Altdaily.com.

The Downtown Norfolk Council, Altdaily.com editors and a company called Grow Interactive are coordinating the effort.

The kickoff celebration is set for Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
