Police: Alert neighbors help arrest alleged burglars in Hampton

HAMPTON--Police have arrested four people and are looking for a fifth in connection with burglaries in the city.  Police are crediting alert neighbors for helping them catch the suspects.

On Thursday around 9:15 a.m., police responded to the 400 block of Whealton Road in reference to a burglary in progress. Police say the suspects broke a front window to gain entry to a house and were observed leaving the residence with tennis shoes.  

Neighbors were able to give descriptions of the suspects and they were quickly arrested without incident.

Jordain M. Burton, 18,  of the first block of West Big Sky Drive,  Breyon Christian Rooks,  18,  of first block of West Lamington Road and a 16-year-old teen from Hampton were charged with Burglary and Grand Larceny.

Later on Thursday, around 3:34 p.m., Police werre called to the 700 block of Blair Avenue in reference to a suspicious activity complaint.

Police found that a suspect had broken a rear window to enter a home and removed electronics.

Once again police got a description and after a brief foot pursuit,  officers were able to arrest  the suspect without incident.

Milton Malik Jones, 18, of the 1400 block of Shell Road was charged with Burglary and Grand Larceny.

Police say an additional suspect was identified in connection with the burglary.  Arrest warrants have been obtained for Marquez Rashawn Perkins, 20,  of  the 900 block of 27’th Street in N.News.  The warrants are for two counts of Burglary and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
