UPDATE 3/31: The Ahoskie Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,500 reward for the information leading to the arrest and conviction of person responsible for Ruby Baker’s murder.
Baker was killed during a home invasion on March 2, 2014.

AHOSKIE -- Autopsy results said someone shot 85-year-old Ruby Martin Baker in her chest Sunday, March 2.
That morning, police got a call from a home monitoring service.
When officers got to the house at 802 Parker Avenue, they found Baker inside it.
Police called paramedics who took her to Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital. A doctor pronounced her dead.
Police also called additional officers to the home and asked North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations and the Hertford County Sheriff's Office to help with the investigation.
The medical examiner released a report Friday saying someone shot Baker in the chest while he/she was standing away from her.
Her obituary said Baker was a member of Ahoskie Free Will Baptist Church worked in the sewing industry for many years. years. She enjoyed working in her yard and taking care of her flower beds.
She is survived by several children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her "beloved companion 'Snoopy.'"
Family and friends remembered Baker during a celebration of life service Saturday at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service of Ahoskie. She was buried in Ahoskie Cemetery.
