Halifax Co. child found safe in Maryland

HALIFAX CO - A missing one-year-old girl who was the subject of an AMBER Alert has been found safe.

Va. State Police say Alexis Rose Carwile is fine.  The two people accused of abducting her, her parents, are in custody in separate locations.

Authorities tell 13News Alexis and Jennifer Carwile were found in Prince George's Co., Maryland.  Eric Eugene Black was taken into custody near Richmond in Chesterfield Co. 

Little Alexis disappeared Thursday afternoon.

Officials say Black and Carwile abducted the child after Campbell County authorities awarded custody to social services.

The AMBER Alert was terminated at 6:49 a.m.
