RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — More than 41,000 customers in Virginia remain without electricity in the wake of a winter storm that buried some areas in nearly 3 feet of snow.
Rappahannock Electric Cooperative said 19,000 customers were without power Monday morning and the deep snow was hindering repairs.
Virginia's largest utility, Dominion Virginia Power, reported nearly 15,000 outages, mostly in northern Virginia.
Dominion said it expected to restore service by Tuesday night, except in isolated areas that crews can't safely reach.
American Electric Power reported 7,530 outages Monday morning. Service was expected to be restored by Tuesday evening.
Allegheny Power said 502 customers remained without power.
