FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Police in North Carolina say they will bring new charges in the case of a 5-year-old girl whose body was found nearly a week after a man is accused of kidnapping her from her Fayetteville home.

Fayetteville police scheduled a news conference for Thursday night. A statement released by the department indicated additional charges were being filed in the case.

A search warrant says the man charged with kidnapping Shaniya Davis picked her up in front of the home and drove her to a hotel where she was last seen alive. The girl's body was found Monday off a road near Sanford.

Mario McNeill is accused of kidnapping the child. Antoinette Davis is charged with trafficking her daughter and child abuse involving prostitution.
