VIRGINIA BEACH – 65 air conditioning units in four months have been stolen across Virginia Beach.
Some have been taken from businesses; others removed from homes and apartment complexes.
The estimated value of the missing units is more than $200,000.
Police say the thieves sometimes take the entire unit while in other cases the unit is stripped of its coils and valuable metals right on site.
Investigators say homes being targeted as usually unoccupied and have for sale signs in the yard.
