PORTSMOUTH -- Fire destroyed the garage of a Portsmouth home -- the second fire there in three months.
Firefighters were called to the 300 block of Dinwiddie Street in Olde Towne around 1:45 a.m. and found flames pouring from the two-story garage.
The heat was so intense that neighboring buildings were damaged; a neighbor's shed was destroyed.
Susan Arrington said her home had an orange glow from the fire, so she decided to evacate.
"I ran upstairs to make sure everyone got up and out of the house," she said.
No one was hurt.
On May 2, fire swept through the garage, badly damaging the structure. That fire was ruled arson.
The cause of fire is under investigation.
