SUFFOLK -- Fire late Tuesday forced the evacuation of 24 employees from a Suffolk business.

Crews responded to Amadas Industries in the 1100 block of Holland Road just before 10:30 p.m. The company producers industrial and agricultural equipment, according to its Web site.

Investigators say a hopper, approximately 4’ by 5’, full of metal shavings in a plasma cutter, caught fire.

Company workers had the fire contained when firefighters arrived, but there was still light smoke in the manufacturing area.

No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
