2 killed, 2 injured in crash on Eastern Shore

Va. State Police say the two people in the front seat of this car were killed.

ACCOMACK COUNTY -- Two people were killed and two were injured when their car crashed on the Eastern Shore.

Cecilio Purneda Alaniz, 53, was driving on Route 178 when the vehicle went off the road, hit a tree stump and overturned.

The crash occurred around 10:00 p.m. and police say alcohol contributed to the crash.

Alaniz and front seat passenger Shirley Mae tate, 72, both of Craddockville, were killed.

The two people in the back seat were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover, according to Va. State Police.

Va. State Police said everyone in the 1996 Buick Century was wearing their seatbelts.

The investigation continues.
