NORFOLK--A grand jury has indicted a new suspect in the murder of a Norfolk barber shop owner that happened in April 2010.
Bernard Alexander Kearney, 36, faces 19 charges in the shooting of 86-year-old Henry B. McIntosh Sr. at his Square Deal Barber Shop on Church Street.
Kearney was served the indictments Wednesday afternoon in the Virginia Beach City Jail, where he is being held pending trial on separate felony charges.
The victim's daughter is relieved that police finally have a suspect.
"I'm excited, I'm always looking for closure," said Mishelle McIntosh-Cooperwood. "I want my dad to rest in peace."
Kearney is charged with first degree murder, attempted robbery, robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
No court dates have been set.
Kearney is the second man to be charged with McIntosh's murder. The first, 29-year-old Dahson Danta Iraldo, had his charges dropped.
