VIRGINIA BEACH -- Saturday, July 19, the Navy SEALs 15th annual Allen Stone Braveheart Memorial Races will benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation, Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad and Virginia Beach Lifesaving Service. Featuring an ex-Navy SEAL dropping into the event via a giant American flag parachute, this public event honors the memory of Navy SEAL operator Allen Stone, who was killed during training exercises in 1999. Family members of fallen SEALs will also read the names of their loved ones. The race will feature a 1K beach run, a short swim, and a 5K boardwalk run along the picturesque Virginia Beach, and is expected to draw between 700 and 1,000 participants.

In addition to the run-swim-run, the event will feature a kids’ race, award ceremony, raffle, pull-up contest and post-race party.

The Virginia Beach Special Operations community will be in attendance, as well as Gold Star Families; Virginia Beach mayor Will Sessoms will kick off the event.

This event is open to the public.  Register before July 1 for the early bird entry fee of $53,  $40 for active-duty military.  To buy tickets or for more information, please visit http://www.allenstonememorial.com.
