NORFOLK -- Temacha Hawthorne spent $1100 on what she thought would be the perfect Christmas gift.
She went to a website called Next Day Pets and decided to order two teacup Yorkie pups for her three sons.
The pups would be shipped to her home in time for the holiday.
First, she wired $600 to Norwich, England. Then, she was told to wire $500 to pay for a couple crates to ship them to Los Angeles.
Hawthorne also traded emails with someone called Reverend Charity Thompson.
"I explained to her how important it was for my puppies to get here for my children for Christmas. She seemed like she shared the same interest, but it wasn't genuine," Hawthorne would learn.
The single mother is out the money and has no puppies for her children.
She warns others not to make the mistake she did.
Hawthorne went to Western Union to file a fraud report and did the same with the police department.
