NORFOLK -- Law enforcement officers from Hampton Roads will join others across Virginia for the “Run with the Law,” which is part of the Special Olympics Torch Run.

For the first time, 100 civilians can join with the officers to run across the James River Bridge on Thursday, June 5. Runners will get people to make donations online for their run and the money will go to the athletes of Special Olympics. Organizers say the three runners who raise the most money will be able to carry the torch during the 6.5 mile run on the JRB.

The Flame of Hope torch will be carried across the state and handed off to officers in each locality for the run into Richmond for the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympic summer games on June 6.
